While at the Pittsburgh ANA, Dan White would head off and survey the substantial bourse floor for potential inventory additions. He returned, at one point, with this gorgeous 1873 proof 3 cent silver and a smile on his face. I can understand the smile after laying eyes on this exquisitely preserved gem. Under a light source, the field are sharply mirrored and highly reflective. The luster amplifies beautiful ring toning. Let's tart with the obverse that has a sea-green center that is surrounded by peripheral yellow and copper-gold. The reverse patina is fully transparent with the same center sea-green and edge golden shades though the color intensity is softer. I'm calling a JUST BUY IT NOW recommendation for this wonderful Osprey Collection find. Housed in PCGS Gen 6.1 (2020-2023) holder with CAC approval.
