Consignor Price Reduction. 1907 Barber half dollar production was typical for the Philadelphia mint during the early 20th century. A bit over 2.5M were struck making the date ideal for type consideration. This newly consigned example offers brilliant frosted luster and active cartwheels when placed under angled lighting. Copper-gold and aquamarine surround the stars while the reverse has light golden hues. A few scattered obverse micro-ticks are consistent with the certified grade. Strike is typical. 	Capped Bust 50C	1826	AU58	PCGS 35424032	O-102a	Original	$775	New May 18! Brilliant Steely-Frosted Luster, Light Violet, Bold Presentation. Consignor Price Reduction. This 1826 O-102 Capped Bust half certainly deserves a "luster bomb" shout out as collectors might surmise from the GFRC images. Steely-frosted radiance explodes off both sides when placed under angled lighting. Furthermore, I see hints of violet and rose dependent on the viewing angle. The sharp contrast, as illustrated, is readily evident and pleasing. Light rub is seen on the check while the finds also show faint wear and a few subtle lines. Housed in PCGS Gen 6.1 (2020-2023) holder with the Overton 102 attribution on the label.
	Capped Bust 50C	1833	AU58	NGC 6346813011	O-108	Original	$700	New May 18! Ample Mint Bloom, Steely Frosted Luster, Moderate Cartwheels, Great Grade. Consignor Price Reduction. Light silver-gray surfaces are well preserved on this near-choice 1833 O-108 Capped Bust half. Mint bloom is seen surrounding the stars and date on the obverse and throughout the reverse. Bright light inspection revealed rotating cartwheels. Strike is typical. Silver-gray coloration is probably the result of a quick dip though the luster remains unimpeded. A solid example at the perfect collector grade. Housed in an NGC new large font holder.
	Capped Bust 50C	1835	AU58	NGC 3433789011	O-108	Gem	$1450	New May 18! Exquisite Eye Appeal, Gem Original, Former New Jersey Collection Auction Purchase. Consignor Price Reduction. How I enjoy handling differentiated early halves. This lot returns from an anonymous client after being purchased at the March 2023 New Jersey Collection Auction. When first offered, Len Augburger described the piece as follows, "Lustrous steely centers lead toward colorful rims, and the eye appeal of this late-date Bust half is stunning. Intense blue patina fills the stars and reverse legend, while an interior band of maroon toning surrounds Liberty and the eagle. The luster is exceptional for the grade level and penetrates even the thick skin at the edges. The images do not completely convey the in-hand aesthetic appeal of this GFRC-rated Gem piece, and we expect competitive bidding. O-108, with star 11 recut at three points." This piece would be a super acquisition for those who enjoy and color combined with excellent luster. Housed in a newer NGC holder with edge view insert and the O-108 attribution on the label.
	Capped Bust 50C	1836	AU58	NGC 3433789015	O-110	Choice	$900	New May 18! Superb Peripheral Toning, Steely Frosted Luster, Near-Gem Original, Former New Jersey Collection.. Consignor Price Reduction. Steely luster highlights this rim-toned example, which features pleasing patina among the stars and legend. Deep aqua color fills the stars, with shades of maroon and gold also present. O-110, with a spike at the outer point of star 7. Production of Bust half dollars was substantial, and these coins circulated widely. Today they are highly collectible, although exceptionally attractive examples, such as this piece, are challenging to locate. This lot realized $1100 during GFRC's March 2023 New Jersey Collection Auction Sale and returns to the price list at that number. Housed in a newer NGC holder with edge view insert and the O-110 attribution on the label.

One look at the PCGS and CAC population reports will quickly drive home the rarity status of the gold 1850 $5 date. Most conspicuous is the total CAC approved population of only 24 pieces. Though PCGS has certified more in the EF/AU grades, their price guide is much more indicative of this date's fair value. The Running Boar Collection has release a near-gem EF45 example with lightly crusty surfaces and the expected green-gold coloration. With a 10x, I see a light surface "skin" and some dirt filling in the legend lettering on the upper reverse. That dirt validates the strict originality though one look at the coin in-hand would be sufficient for that assessment. Opportunity strikes for U.S. gold collectors as the CAC price guide is understated and should not be the primary reference for a purchase decision. The 1895-S $5 gold date remains underrated given its mintage of only 112,000 pieces and very low surviving Mint State population. Total PCGS Mint State population stands at 44 pieces while CAC has approved only 10 comparable examples. This date sees a dramatic pricing increase starting at the MS62 level. This Running Boar lot presents value given the AU58 certification and CAC green bean. Luster falls into the steely-frosted category while the coloration is an even honey-gold with some background green under a bright light. Mint bloom is available throughout the devices and periphery. Strike is complete other than the reverse arrow feathers. Housed in NGC Gen 9 (2001-2003) holder with CAC approval.

I believe that the PCGS graders were accurate with respect to this newly consigned 1883 Carson City struck Morgan. The eye appeal is that of full gem given the brilliant steely-frosted luster and vibrant cartwheels. However, some chatter below Liberty's chin is properly captured with the 64+ grade. That chatter is not readily overt on the image but will appear under a bright light. Fairly priced and in search of a caring numismatic home. Housed in PCGS Gen 4.6 (2013-2014) holder.

This near-gem 1921 Denver struck Morgan dollar offers brilliant frosted radiance and dancing cartwheels. Bright light review is a pleasurable experience as the eye appeal is noteworthy. The "+" grade captures some chatter on Liberty's chin from a technical perspective otherwise this piece would be properly designated as a full gem. Housed in PCGS Gen 6.0 (2015-2020) holder.
	Seated 10C	1859	PR64	PCGS 50064684	F-102	Choice	$1650	New May 18! Near Gem Original, Crusty Gray Patina, Active Mirrors, Fully Struck, Former Gerry Fortin Reference Collection. Consignor Price Reduction. At GFRC, we like our Liberty Seated coinage, including proofs, to have 100% natural surfaces and crusty gray patina where possible. This is the case for this near gem 1859 proof strike. Sourced from a Heritage auction during November 2003 due to the atypical crusty obverse toning with incremental gray patina on the reverse. Under the toning are active mirrors. Strike is absolutely hammered. 1859 proofs were struck from two different obverse dies labeled as F-101 and F-102 in the "web-book". F-101 is the more common of the two proof dies while F-102 accounts for about one in five of the proof dimes seen. This F-102 obverse presents a medium level date while F-101 exhibits a upward sloping. This F-102 dime continues to be the proof plate coin within The Definitive Resource for Liberty Seated Dime Die Variety Collectors online reference. Previously sold to a client who has decided to liquidate his Seated dime proof set, therefore resulting to the price list. This is an atypical proof example for fans of crusty originality. Consignor Price Reduction. 800 proof strikes were produced in 1878 with all being coined from a single Type 2 reverse die pairing. This accurately graded survivor offerings essentially unblemished surfaces with brilliant reflectance. An even white colored example with boldly struck motifs. All 1878 proof strikes will have die rust pits in the lower right gown and a die line in the lower right wreath. Housed in PCGS Gen 6.1 (2020-2023) holder.

A thoroughly pleasing 1860-O half dime that is strictly and choice for the grade. A thick crusty skin is uniform on both sides but does not completely mute the underlying steely luster. Strike is bold, especially on the obverse, while the reverse was struck by a worn die. Surfaces are pristine. This is a quality lot are a fair price. Housed in PCGS Gen 6.0 (2015-2020) holder.
	Seated 50C	1846 Medium Date	MS64	PCGS 38453734	WB-1	Choice	$5850	New May 17! Gorgeous Bright Light Eye Appeal, Lightly Mirrored Obverse, Near-Gem Original, Newtown Collection. This 1846 Medium Date WB-1 half warrants a JUST BUY IT NOW recommendation as the bright light eye appeal is simply outstanding. This is a dual sided finish Newtown release with the obverse being lightly mirrored while the reverse is steely-frosted. Under a bright light, the darker olive gold-gray obverse toning melts away to reveal center pastel rose surrounded by a gorgeous peripheral yellow-gold ring. The eye appeal is compelling here. The reverse offers the similar center rose framed by aquamarine at the rims. The overall strike is complete other than a touch of weakness at the left facing claw. This lot showcases the WB-1 die pairing with boldly cracked reverse at (STA)TES and is way better in-hand than on the images. Please trust me here. Ideal as a No Motto type coin. Astute students of the Seated half dollar series will note the unique presentation of the 1860 and 1861 San Francisco strikes. These are typically found with luster ranging from granular frosted to satiny along with a bit of "dished" appearance. This Newtown release was purchased from GFRC during October 2017 and finally returns to the market. Under a bright light, the obverse radiance is clearly frosty with even silver-gray toning. Tilting, the coin brings about faint rose and blue hues. The reverse features a thin gold patina with silver coloration being predominant. The overall strike is complete and visually attractive. This is a near-choice example with richer reverse toning enabling a GFRC-Choice rating. Housed in PCGS Gen 6.0 (2015-2020) holder.
	Seated 5C	1840 No Drapery	MS63	PCGS 45566744		Choice	$550	New May 17! No Drapery Type, Steely-Frosted Radiance, Delicate Strike, Choice Original, Crazy Joe Collection. Consignor Price Reduction. The parallels between the Liberty Seated half dime and dime series are quite evident when evaluating this newest Crazy Joe collection release. Steely-frosted fields are readily apparent with notable radiance when placed under a bright light. Again, as seen on the dime series, the strike is "delicate" given the shallow hubbing of the working dies. A micro-line in the left obverse field is the only abrasion requiring note and would preclude a CAC submission. A visually pleasing No Drapery type example with consistent bluish-gray coloration on both sides. Housed in PCGS Gen 6.1 (2020-2023) holder.
	Seated 50C	1840-(O)	AU53	PCGS 45878902	WB-4	Original	$3150	New May 15! No Mintmark Reverse of 1839, Steely-Frosted Surfaces, Untoned, Newtown Collection. By now, Liberty Seated collectors recognize the importance of the 1840-O WB-4 die variety as struck by a mintmark less reverse die left over from the reeded edge Capped Bust era. This variety is straightforward to identify due to the larger reverse lettering and four different die cracks that exit to the rim. This Newtown release is well struck with die rust throughout the center motif. Fields present a steely texture resulting in reflective luster. The surfaces are untoned, probably from a past dip. During a 10x review, there are no marks worthy of mention. This variety has a limited population in AU grades and become quite rare in Mint State. Housed in PCGS Gen 6.1 (2020-2024) holder with CAC approval.
	Seated 50C	1846 6/Horizontal 6	AU55	PCGS 20198692	WB-7	Gem	$5750	New May 15! 6/Horizontal 6, Steely Fields, Light Gold, Gem Eye Appeal, Newtown Collection. The 1846 6 over horizontal 6 is a great "eyeball" die variety that is one of the most obvious in the Liberty Seated half dollar series. After punching the 184 digits with a three digit logotype, the mint engraver mistakenly punched the final 6 digit at a 90 degree angle. Realizing his mistake, he then punched the 6 digit in the correct position without an attempt to efface the former. Talk about having a bad day! This Newtown lot warrants a GFRC-Gem quality rating for its superb preservation, undisturbed steely reflective lust and complete strike. The last PCGS auction appearance dates back to October 2016 and is a dipped out example. CAC has approved 21 in all grades with six finer at the MS63/MS64 level with five figure premiums. The CAC price guide is $3,900 at the certified grade and increasing to $6,000 in MS60. Housed in PCGS Gen 6.1 (2020-2024) holder with CAC approval. The PCGS label captures the attribution as WB-7, RPD FS-301, 6/Horiz 6 with a Randy Wiley pedigree.
	Seated 50C	1850-O	MS64	PCGS 25541729	WB-2	Choice	HOLD $4000	New May 15! Silver Abitrage Era Strike, Steely Reflective Luster, Near-Gem Original, Newtown Collection. Upon the discovered of substantial gold deposits in California, the traditional gold: silver ratio was impacted by the flow of gold arriving into the U.S. economy. This lowered the value of gold with respect to silver resulting in an arbitrage opportunity. A portion of the Seated half dollars, starting in 1850, were exported to Europe and returned as silver bullion at a higher value. Though 1850 New Orleans mintage amounted to 2,456,000 pieces, Mint State survivors are limited with those garnering CAC approval being very scarce. This Newtown release is one of six approved at the MS64 level with a price guide value of $4000 as reference. An unquestionably original example with steely fields overlaid with aquamarine-gold patina on the obverse and incremental blue hues on the reverse. The strike is fully executed with high relief motifs. Under a bright light, the reflective luster is notable along with much more transparent patina. Housed in PCGS Gen 4.4 (2005-2011) holder with CAC approval. This Newtown lots certainly warrants a new presence in an advanced Seated half dollar collection.
	Seated 50C	1873 No Arrows, Closed 3	MS63	PCGS 33068683	WB-5	Choice	HOLD $1450	New May 15! Closed 3, Lightly Encrusted Rose-Gold, Choice Surfaces, Newtown Collection. The Newtown Collection release continues with this lovely 1873 No Arrows Closed 3 half. The Closed 3 variety is the earliest coins minted in 1873 with a 3 digit that appears to be an "8" without careful examination. Regardless of its limited mintage, this issue is available in circulated grades and becomes scarce in Mint State. This is a frosted piece with rose-gold toning on the obverse and olive-gold revers toning which is nicely framed by peripheral blue at the rim. Strike is completely executed. The darker wispy regions in the right obverse field are a breaks in the rose-gold toning and much less evident in-hand than on the GFRC images. Housed in PCGS Gen 6.0 (2015-2020) holder with a PCGS price guide value of $2000 as reference.
	Seated 50C	1840-(O)	F12	PCGS 21302323	WB-4	Choice	HOLD $945	New May 11! No Mintmark Reverse of 1839, Choice Original, Newtown Collection. A wonderful 1840 WB-4 Seated half struck with a leftover Medium Letters reverse of 1838. Regardless of considerable time in circulation, this piece presents pristine surfaces that are overlaid with a crusty rose-gray patina. Housed in PCGS Gen 4.1 (2003-2004) holder with CAC approval. Yet another Newtown release that immediately sold upon being featured in the Daily Blog.
	Seated 50C	1841-O	MS62	PCGS 33491102	WB-8	Choice	$2750	New May 11! Choice Original, Newtown Collection. Brilliant satiny luster radiates through the pale pewter-dove-silver tone that caresses the surfaces of both sides. A full strike is apparent with the reverse die beginning to shatter, with die cracks coming in from the rim at 3:30 through the right wing and from the rim at 6:30, passing between AL and piercing the eagle's left talon, through the body, and ending in the field in front of the beak. Close inspection does reveal some minor scuffs on the reverse above the eagle's head, but nothing that is out of the ordinary for the MS62 grade, and the eye appeal is very strong for the grade. Housed in PCGS Gen 6.0 (2015-2020) holder with CAC approval. Another fine release from the Newtown Collection that should garner immediate interest.

	Seated 50C	1847/6	AU55	CACG 481272771	WB-9	Gem	HOLD $22000	New May 10! 1847/6, Gem Original, Finest Certified at CAC, Newtown Collection. A rare Liberty Seated half dollar die variety with the under date (1846) not struck in the same location as the 1847, rather it is below the final date punch and to the right. The bottoms of the 4 and 6 digits show fairly well on this early die state example. This example is gem original and the finest certified or stickered by CAC. GFRC images accurately capture the natural coin gray patina which is deeper on the obverse. Housed in a new CAC Grading (2023) holder and graded consistent with CAC approval standards. This lot surfaced at the FUN2024 show and was placed into the Newtown Collection. Our top consignor has decided to release this finest known example into another advanced collection.

Frosty surfaces reveal light gold and tan patina, with a few hints of reflectivity evident as the coin is rotated under a light. Strike is typical, with the left claw joints blending together. CAC has approved 13 pieces, with only a single piece finer, at MS64. The overdate is most evident in the lower loop of 5, where a horizontal line extends from the upper right. 	Seated 50C	1857-S	MS61	NGC 3462106011	WB-3 R4	Original	HOLD $7500	New May 10! Rare Mint State Grade, Frosty Cartwheel Luster, Mottled Gold Patina, Fully Struck, Newtown Collection. Ex. Dick Osburn Collection. Rare in Mint State as a date and mint, with probably ten or so pieces that can claim uncirculated status. Fully struck by San Francisco Mint, with sharp stars and drapery folds, Liberty's hair curls have good separation. On the reverse, the eagle's claws and thighs are well defined. Original surfaces offer frosty mint luster with mild cartwheel effect. There are a few tiny contact marks in the fields mentioned for 100% accuracy. Overall, this specimen is quite pleasing and attractive at the assigned grade level. The WB-3 die pairing has additional repunched 1 digit to the left of the final date punch. This attribution point is crisply defined. Housed in newer NGC holder with edge view insert. The NGC label reads, "DICK OSBURN COLLECTION" and an important pedigree. Previously sold by GFRC into the Newtown Collection during October 2017 with the sale record available in the Sales Archive.

	Seated 50C	1861 CSA Restrike	AU58	PCGS 13357736		Choice	HOLD $10600	New May 10! CSA Restrike, Crusty Surfaces, Near-Gem Original, Newtown Collection. The CSA restrikes began life as regular issue 1861 obverse dated half dollars, and were later overstruck, with the reverse die used to coin the four known Confederate half dollars. Many of these pieces have a flat, "pancake" look, due to the overstrike, but this CAC-approved example retains a well-defined obverse. Crusty toning reveals patches of electric blue on the obverse, while the reverse exhibits deep olive, gray and gold patina. Mintage of CSA restrike half was 500 coins, and these have been popular with substantial collector interest for Civil War issues. This is a choice example that was previously sold by GFRC Online Auctions during early 2021. Now being released by the Newtown Collection. 	Seated 50C	1861-O Louisiana Issue	MS62	PCGS 13609092	W-8	Gem	HOLD $3500	New May 10! Louisana Administration Issue, Gem Original, Satiny Cartwheel Luster, Historically Significant, Newtown Collection. A historically significant Louisiana Administration W-8 strike during the waning days of the New Orleans mint during early 1861. This offering is a gem and conservatively graded at the MS62 level. Satiny cartwheel luster is dominate during in hand and bright light viewing. Surfaces are covered with a semi-transparent layer of rich gold patina. The W-8 diagnostics are easily seen on the reverse. The die crack at the top of STAT(ES OF) is visible under a 10x loupe along with the die clashing in the lower right shield. Obverse date punch is weak and slopes upward per the Bill Bugert diagnostics in his New Orleans Seated Half Dollar Register. Housed in PCGS Gen 4.4 (2005-2011) holder with CAC approval. The green bean was a foregone conclusion for this spectacular offering. Any serious collector of the 1861 New Orleans die varieties would be thrilled to own this gem W-8 example courtesy of the Newtown Collection.

GFRC is pleased to be offering an O-106 example with R4+ rarity. Researching the Auction & Mail Prices Realized piblication for Bust Half Dollars indicates that choice examples will be found with PL fields along with a substantial pricing premium. The Newtown specimen is consistent with those findings and offers lightly mirrored fields which I will sometimes describe as steely. Reflective luster is sharp from unabraded surfaces. This lovely piece was previously placed into a New York City and Cumberland Collection. The 1848-D quarter eagle makes an ideal type coin as one of the better dates struck at the Dahlonega. The main devices have a frosted finish leading to cameo effects. Faint mottled rose toning covers a portion of the obverse while the reverse is mostly untoned. Under a bright light, the darker in-hand coloration lightens, especially on the reverse as expected. The primary colors are varying shades of pastel blue, burnt orange, aquamarine-blue, and yellow gold. Surfaces are essentially unabraded. 	Morgan $1	1886-S	MS61	NGC 6057235015		Choice	$575	New May 1! Historically Scarce San Francisco Date, Fresh CAC Approval, Lightly Mirrored, Untoned. Scenic Lakeview Collection. During the early 1900s, the 1886-S was one of the Morgan rarities in Mint State. Over time, a moderate supply of coins were released from San Francisco mint storage, thus increasing availability. There are suggestions that hundreds of thousands were melted under the 1918 Pittman Act provisions, thought never verified. This date remains scarce today with partially mirrored examples being known at the choice Mint State grades. This Scenic Lakeview offering exhibits a partially mirrored obverse, with the reverse less so. The primary focal area is minimally abraded given the conservative grade. As a result, this piece appeared to be a strong CAC candidate and was approved during a recent GFRC submission. The CAC price guide currently stands at $600 at the MS61 grade level. Luster falls into the frosted realm though the surfaces were struck from eroded dies. Under a bright light, the peripheral toning shifts to green that intermixes with the light copper-gold. 	Seated 25C	1840 With Drapery	MS63	PCGS 82907272	Briggs 1-A	Choice	$4950	New May 1! Drapery Type, Mirrored Fields, Grayish-Blue, Choice Overall, Quito Collection. Consignor Price Reduction. During the 1840 design hub transition from No Drapery to Drapery, the Philadelphia mint only struck the With Drapery design and produced 188,127 pieces. This date is accepted as being rare in Mint State with specimens being struck by heavily polished dies. The result is a mirrored finish in the fields. This same die finish has also been noted on 1840 Drapery Seated dimes. While inspecting with a 10x under angled lighting, diagonal die polished lines are evident on the obverse and behind all the reverse devices. A medium bluish-gray patina covers the obverse while the same coloration is decorated by peripheral copper gold on the reverse. The mintage for 1849 New Orleans strikes is unrecorded with Briggs estimating a mintage of 16,000 pieces. Few example ever reach the marketplace. The CAC population report further illustrates the dilemma facing collectors as only 17 have been approved in all grades with more than half grading between FA02 and F12. GFRC is pleased to report that the Quito Collection is releasing the single approved F15 specimen. This example is strictly original with consistent crusty gray patina on both sides. Surfaces are essentially unabraded and quite pleasing when one considers the amount of time in circulation and the opportunities for mistreatment. Honestly, the "price guides" are just that for this date as the overwhelming challenge is locating an example, let along a choice CAC approved specimen. The Quito Collection continues his releases of some amazing Liberty Seated quarters. Mintage of the 1852 date is 177,060 with PCGS having certified eight pieces between MS65, MS65+, and MS66, with none finer. The Quito lot is one of four certified at PCGS along with one of four approved at CAC. When checking CoinFacts and reviewing the Eugene Gardner specimen, which is the CoinFacts plate coin, it is readily apparent that the Quito specimen is superior to the Gardner coin in terms of strike and undisturbed luster. DLRC last sold the Gardner lot during August 2017 with CAC approval for $21,500. Previously, the same lot sold in Heritage's 2015 Gardner Sale, without CAC approval, for $18,800. The strike could be considered as delicate though complete. Both die are rusted, as the obverse exhibits rust pits above the knees, to the left of the root, and within the shield. This date is downright scarce in all grades and always missing on the GFRC price list. The Quito Collection comes to the rescue as releasing a four lot Mint State date set (1875-CC to 1878-CC) with this leadoff 1875-CC securing a GFRC-Gem rating. Overall eye appeal is that of a higher grade given brilliant frosted luster and vibrant cartwheels. Strike is about good as it gets for the Type II/II design hubs and westerner frontier workmanship. Surfaces are unabraded with faint clashing on the lower reverse that needs more research. CAC population report indicates 3 approved at grade with 9 better. The radiance is sharp and pleasing under a bright light. Strike is complete too. Some faint obverse field chatter is consistent with the certified grade though the eye appeal is that of a higher level. A nice 1891-S Medium S example to consider. The extra flag of the 1 digit can be seen immediately to the right of the scroll end. The date is positioned high with a sharp downward slope. This misplaced date variety was first identified by Fortin during 1999. This evenly frosted example offers strong radiance consistent with the certified grade and has been employed as the variety plate coin at The Definitive Resource for Liberty Seated Dime Variety Collectors online reference. Handling early date Mint State quarters provides access to subtle die finishes and subtle markers. This 1843 is an example with partially mirrored fields and fully struck devices. Overall coloring is a copper-gold with embedded aquamarine and rose that surfaces during bright light inspection. The rough die finish between stars and denticles is noted via 10x review. An unlisted die line connects the left facing wing to the upper olive branch. A few scattered contact marks in the fields account for the certified grade. An offering that is sure to please Seated quarter collectors. Housed in a pristine NGC Gen 7 (1997-2000) holder.
	Seated 25C	1845	MS64+PL	PCGS 47965772	Briggs 4-D	Choice	$7250	New April 24! Lone Certified Proof Like Example, Sharply Mirrored Fields, Mottled Aquamarine-Blue Hues. This 1845 Briggs 4-D specimen is truly unique during GFRC's tenure and that of PCGS. This is the lone No Motto Seated quarter to gain a PCGS Proof Like certification given the sharp mirrors on both sides. The bright light visuals are truly compelling with intense reflectance and light toning. Most numismatists would assume that this lot is a proof strike until checking the Briggs encyclopedia. Reported proof strikes will be found with a repunched date per Briggs 5-E listing. Mottled aquamarine-blue hues decorate the obverse while the reverse features copper-gold at the rim. The overall strike is deeply impressed and pleasing. A careful 10x inspection revealed two stray micro-lines below the left eagle claw as the only aberration requiring mention. This is a unique lot that belongs in the most advanced Seated quarter sets under construction. Housed in PCGS Gen 6.1 (2020-2024) holder.
	Seated 25C	1845	MS62	PCGS 11449751	Briggs 3-C	Choice	$1250	New April 24! Repunched Date, Steely Reflectance, Complete Strike, Choice Original. This 1845 Briggs 3-C lot brought a trip back to the Briggs Encyclopedia with some warranted commentary. Briggs list this variety as Large 5 over Small 5 which is incorrect if one looks carefully at the 5 digit and punch layout. Though there appears to be a shorter flag on the earlier 5 digit punch, what we are seeing is the top of the punch whereby the flag of the 5 digit is shorter than at the base. This fact becomes easily seen with a 10x and understanding of how the date punch is constructed and inverted before being punched into the working die. This new example presents steely fields and consistent reflectance on both sides. The originality is unquestionable. Under a bright light, the obverse center shifts to an orange shade with faint gray in the fields. The reverse is a more consistent light gray. Some cartwheel is seen with strong movement on the reverse. The strike is complete with fully detailed head and star center points. The reverse eagle is crisp and deeply impressed. 	Seated 25C	1871	MS64	NGC 6512626001	Briggs 1-A	Choice	$3900	New April 24! Gorgeous Eye Appeal, Granular Frosted Luster, Dancing Cartwheels, Near Gem Original. One of my favorite lots in this late April consignment is this 1871 Briggs 4-C quarter with sports rich granular frosted luster and intense coloration. This piece is downright gorgeous example from a mintage of 118.200 pieces. Few were preserved in Mint State based on the single digit populations and infrequent auction appearances. Bright light viewing is a joy given the radiance and dancing cartwheels. Obverse coloration is primarily rose with peripheral blues at the stars and into the rim. Varying shades of copper-gold are noted on the reverse and accurately illustrated within the images. Strike is 100% complete when considering how the Type II design hubs are notorious for weak strikes. Partial wire rims are noted on both sides. A 10x inspection revealed an ancient line from start 7 through the top of head and into the cap. To the untrained eye this would appear to be a toning line but in reality is a faint line in the surface. I suspect this line is as made given how well the balance of the surfaces are preserved. 	Seated 25C	1873 No Arrows, Open 3	MS63	NGC 3706317005	Briggs 1-A	Choice	$2500	New April 24! Scarce Open 3, Creamy Luster, Complete Strike, Choice Overall. The 1873 No Arrows Open 3 variant is much more available that the rare Closed 3 but still scarce overall. This Briggs 1-A offering is typical of the variety with a full strike and elevated stars with distinct star centers. Frosted luster radiates under a bright light including active cartwheels. Fields are essentially unabraded with stray die clash lines noted. Spider die cracks on noted on the obverse. Overall, a solid example that has been accurately graded and certain to please at the offered price point. Housed in newer NGC holder with edge view insert.

Moderately thick crusty gray patina is denser on the obverse than reverse for this 1840-O F-107 dime. This die pairing is easily attributed by a lapped reverse with diminished devices and a weak date punch. The reverse is more lightly toned. A near-choice example with some coloration and decent eye appeal. This piece was my reference F-107 example as the web-book plate coin was borrowed from a 1990s numismatic friend for images. As I continue to work through the remaining holdered coins in the Seated dime reference collection, there is the occasional lot that was purchased and never added to the web-book. Such is the case for this 1882 dime that is a late die state example of the F-108 with weak reverse hubbing. This is a brilliant frosted piece with substantial radiance. Given the high circulated grade, the reverse becomes a die variety collector's delight. One can assess the poorly hubbed center denomination and the shattered die in the left wreath with the potential for a full cud to form. Surfaces are pristine and entirely unabraded. A premium example with creamy frosted luster and a full start are immediately noted. Both sides are heavily clashed. Under a bright light, the cartwheels are active with equal radiance across the obverse and reverse. Light gold coloration is noted at the peripheries. Let's start the description for this Texas bank box release with a JUST BUY IT NOW recommendation. Sparkling frosted luster and light golden toning hues result in extraordinary eye appeal. Cartwheels are vibrant too. Surfaces are pristine during a 10x inspection. Also note the bold strike with nicely defined center hair curls and elevated star centers. As mentioned in the Daily Blog, this lot has recently been to CAC and did not sticker much to my surprise and disappointment. Regardless, I've assigned a GFRC-Gem quality rating given the conservative grading and again, the superb eye appeal and unabraded surfaces. Housed in newer NGC holder with edge view insert. Few collectors of the early 20th century pursued gold coins by date and mintmark, and high-grade survivors, especially from branch Mints, can be surprisingly challenging. Although the San Francisco Mint struck nearly a million eagles in this year, the CAC census notes only eight pieces finer. This yellow-gold example offers thick, frosty luster, cooled with swirling cartwheels. Blemishes are minimal and only scattered ticks are evident. The CAC population is 99 coins total and the CAC guide value is $8,550. Housed in a PCGS Gen 6.0 holder with the Fairmont Collection pedigree noted on the label.

The heft of a $20 gold piece is immediately evident to even the non-collector and easily conveys the notion of substantial value. The highest denomination of the universally prized yellow metal is meant to impress, and even more so when in the highest grades. This GFRC-rated Gem is a flashy survivor with substantial luster, which exhibits varied shades of orange and rose-gold color. The strike is defined throughout with separated hair strands and eagle feathers. CAC notes 100 coins in all grades, with only two coins finer. The CAC price guide in MS64 is $6,000, advancing sharply to $21,600 in MS65. Housed in a PCGS Gen 6.0 (2015-2020) holder with CAC approval.

This GFRC-rated Gem is a superb example of the $20 Saint, with exceptional luster interrupted by only scattered ticks. Saint-Gaudens’ design is perhaps the most popular within American numismatics, driven by a conscious effort on the part of President Roosevelt to introduce more aesthetically pleasing designs into the nation’s coinage. It is no surprise that the U.S. Mint resurrected this concept for the American Eagle gold series introduced in 1986. This example exhibits yellow-gold color, with subtle copper-rose patina surrounding the figure of Liberty. The CAC price guide is $3,580 in MS65 and jumps to $5,560 in MS66. A crusty original example of the 1853 Hubbed Arrows & Date whereby the date and arrows were hubbed into the working master die. This simplified die preparation as the Philadelphia mint was under pressure for a dramatic production increase with a lower weight planchet. This example is from my reference collection but was never added to the web-book. A strictly original example with choice surface. A thick crusty patina covers both sides while the underlying surfaces present a steely texture. The strike is deeply impressed with high relief stars and wreath leaves. A few minor die cracks are present which do not match with any of the existing web-book listings. However, those cracks are subtle and different to illustrate, thus this piece was never added to The Definitive Resource for Liberty Seated Dime Variety Collectors online reference. A very sold example that should easily cross into a CACG holder. Housed in NGC Gen 7 (1997-2000) holder.

An olive-gold patina is consistent on both sides with sharper reflectance on the reverse. Diagonal die scratches are easily seen with a 10x behind the lower gown folds and the pendant. This lot is housed in a long ago gold label PCI holder and was purchased during April 2004.

Though the GFRC images may be uninspiring, this lovely 1888 dime possess partially mirrored fields and classic rose-blue toning on the obverse and mottled golden-brown hues on the reverse. When examined under a bright light, the reflective radiance is unquestionable along with swirling cartwheels. The overall strike is deeply impressed. This lot is yet another piece in my "get to it" box for publication within The Definitive Resource for Liberty Seated Dime Variety Collectors online reference but has been languishing for decades. I've just decided to sell this one though that are unique die cracks in the reverse left wreath. Housed in old SEGS holder.

There is slight doubling on the right side of the Medium S mintmark. This lot is accurate graded and fully choice. 	Seated 25C	1852-O	EF40	PCGS 60034126	Briggs 1-A	Original	$2700	New April 19! Original, Saw Mill Run Collection.. Consignor Price Reduction. Along with the 1849-O, 1851-O, and 1891-O issues, the 1852-O is among the key dates in the New Orleans Seated quarter set. Silver-gray fields grace this example, highlighted by bits of charcoal patina evident in the protected areas. The strike is typical for the issue, with softly impressed stars. Strike, as opposed to circulation wear, is sometimes challenging to judge on mid-grade coins, but a careful examination of other 1852-O quarters quickly reveals similar characteristics. This piece is remarkably advanced in the condition census. PCGS has certified 104 pieces in all grades, with 12 pieces at the EF level, six coins in AU, and just two examples in Mint State.
